If you read 1 Corinthians 12 you will see how Paul writes about the Church being a body and how the various parts work together. I would like to look at these parts from a different angle.
1 Cor 12:13.... For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body ...NIV (see also Ephesians 4:25)
There is only one body, one Church, not many. There is only one head on any body and in the Church that head is Christ (Ephesians 5:23) There is not a multiple of heads, that would make it a freak and seriously confuse everyone.
There is only one mouth on a body but two ears showing we should listen more than speak. Unfortunately we tend to do just the opposite and talk more than listen!
There are two hands and two feet also saying we should do more and talk less. Talk is easy but action speaks louder than any word. Prove your Christianity by what you do, more than by what you say. We cannot earn our Salvation by doing good deeds, but neither can you talk your way into Heaven.
There is one mind in our physical bodies and the Scripture also instructs us NOT to be double minded, to not be undecided, or to be fickle by changing our minds with every wind that blows. We are also to be like our bodies and have only one face – no one likes anybody who is two-faced, saying one thing to you then saying something different behind your back.
The body also has only one heart. We are to love and serve only one Master.
Matt 6:24 "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money . NIV
How functional is your spiritual body?
Once again, we do not intend to ‘run’ your life for you. The choices are yours to make, but you need to know all of the facts to make a good decision. Do not just accept what has been written, read the scriptures for yourselves and see what God has said.
