We all know the ‘law’ of cause and effect. That for everything we do there is a reaction or a consequence to it. We do not live in a vacuum thus everything, no matter how small; will affect, someone, somehow.
Do you remember how Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery? Did they realise how distraught their father would be over this? I do not think so because years later, maybe as much a 20 years, they still blamed bad things that happened to them on what they had done to Joseph.
Gen 42:21
21 They said to one another, "Surely we are being punished because of our brother. We saw how distressed he was when he pleaded with us for his life, but we would not listen; that's why this distress has come upon us."
They did not consider all the consequences of their action before they did what they did. Is this not also the case with us? How often do we do things, which we wish we hadn’t?
I am sure we have all felt the effect of the careless word or deed that someone has brought onto us. We do not like it, but have you ever considered that you might have done that to someone else?
It is not only the bad deeds that have a ripple effect; it’s also the good deeds. Just as the bad deeds are felt so also when we do good things these are also felt.
When we change our life, to live the life that Christ expects from us, people will notice the difference and feel the difference in our actions. When we repent of our sins, confess that Jesus is the Son of God, get baptised and then live the life of a true Christian, you will positively affect the lives of many, many people.
This is what we should strive for, to be a GOOD influence and have a GOOD effect on people, not the other way around.
Once again, we do not intend to ‘run’ your life for you. The choices are yours to make, but you need to know all of the facts to make a good decision. Do not just accept what has been written, read the scriptures for yourselves and see what God has said.
