I am sure that you have heard someone complain about the ‘world we live in’. Yes, there is a lot bad with the world, but there are also things which we should be grateful for. Sometimes the thing which we are complaining about is the very thing we should be grateful for!
As an example we can look at a woman by the name of Corrie Tenboom. She was a prisoner during the Second World War in a concentration camp. She taught the people in her dormitory to be grateful for the lice that infected their beds and bodies! Why? Because the lice kept the guards out of their dormitory and they could pray without being disturbed.
Maybe there is something in thins list which you can relate to.
I am thankful for;
Taxes – because that means I have a job and can feed my family.
The mess after a party – because that means I am surrounded by friends.
My clothes that are too small – because that means I have enough to eat.
My shadow – because that means the sun is shining and I am outside in the sunshine.
The complaints about the Government – because that means we have freedom of speech.
The piles of laundry – because that means that I am surrounded by my family at home.
I am thankful for the alarm that goes off in the morning – because that means that I am alive and have had a good nights rest.
The lawn that needs mowing – because that means that I have a home.
The teenager who is complaining about doing the dishes – because that means the teenager is at home not out on the streets.
The husband just lying on the couch – because he is at home and not out drinking.
You see lots of times the very thing which we are complaining about is what is in truth a blessing.
Once again, we do not intend to ‘run’ your life for you. The choices are yours to make, but you need to know all of the facts to make a good decision. Do not just accept what has been written, read the scriptures for yourselves and see what God has said.
