Many times people feel that they are not ‘worthy’ to do Gods work. They feel that they are not qualified to teach, they feel that they will be ignored and ridiculed. They compare themselves to the so-called ‘great’ preachers of this world and think that they are not able to compare with them.
Go back through the Bible and have a look at who God did use for his work.
Moses –started as Pharaohs’ daughter’s son, but was a shepherd when God called him.
David was also a shepherd when he was anointed by Samuel. (They first looked at all of his other brothers who seemed to be better suited – but God chose David.) He killed Goliath and became the most famous and well liked king of Jewish history.
Widow of nein – a simple poor widow with nothing taught one of the strongest lessons of all. To give ALL to God.
Peter, James and John were all fishermen before they followed Jesus and became Apostles.
Rahab was a prostitute. She saved the two spies in Jericho and ended up being the King David’s great grandmother and an ancestor of Jesus!!
John the Baptist living in the desert eating locusts and wearing camel skins was the person God chose to proclaim the arrival of Jesus.
Jesus was born in a stable and was a carpenter yet is the Saviour of the world!!
God frequently chooses the humble, lowly person to do a great work. Jesus said in Matt 11:11 that no one was greater than John the Baptist, BUT the least in the kingdom of Heaven (a Christian) is greater than he was! Every true Christian is important and does an important work for God. No matter how seemingly small a task it may seem – it is important and appreciated by God. None of us can excuse the lack of Christian work by claiming to be inadequate. Jesus died for you and I, He did NOT die for rubbish!!!
Once again, we do not intend to ‘run’ your life for you. The choices are yours to make, but you need to know all of the facts to make a good decision. Do not just accept what has been written, read the scriptures for yourselves and see what God has said.
