Sometimes when talking to people about being committed to being a Christian, they believe that they are because they may attend a service or two during the year! That is not commitment, it is a religion of convenience.
If you look at bacon and eggs, the two animals which contribute to this breakfast illustrate the difference between commitment and convenience. The chicken conveniently donates and egg, while the pig is far more committed when he donates his very life!!
Christ was committed to saving the world, He gave His very life for this objective. How much are committed?
We frequently will make time in our ‘busy’ schedule to watch our favourite TV program but will truly battle to find ANY time to read the Scriptures or attend services.
We have time for our sports, gym, hobbies but struggle to find time to meet with the brethren.
We will read up and research every bit of information about something that interests us, like a new hobby, but do not have the energy to pen a single page of the Bible!
I believe that commitment has a direct relationship to the amount we believe. If you do not truly believe why would you put in the effort? However, if you do believe in Heaven, in God and His Word then you will MAKE time to study, to meet together and to worship Him.
You can gauge for yourself how much faith you have by the amount of commitment you show.
Lets build our faith and raise our level of commitment.
Once again, we do not intend to ‘run’ your life for you. The choices are yours to make, but you need to know all of the facts to make a good decision. Do not just accept what has been written, read the scriptures for yourselves and see what God has said.
