“As a man thinks in his heart, that is what he is.” (Proverbs 23:7)
What we think about is what we are, we may hide the truth from others but our minds reflect who we are inside.
We ‘judge’ each other by what another ‘says’ or ‘does’, it is the only thing we can make a judgement on, because we do NOT see into another’s mind. God, however, He does see into our minds, He knows our thoughts, whether we are truthful or not, whether we are repentant or not and whether we are honest or not.
This is the very reason why in Philippians 2:5 the Scripture tells us that we are to have the same attitude as that of Christ. If we think the way that Christ thinks, if we do things the way Christ would do it, then we KNOW that God will be pleased with what He sees in our minds.
There is some comfort to be found in the knowledge that God sees into our minds because there are many times when we are wanting to do something (in our minds), but we fail to achieve our goals in the flesh. God can see if we are really wanting to serve Him or not.
Paul tells us that the things he wants to do he doesn’t do and the things he doesn’t want to do, he does! Are we not exactly the same? God knows if we are trying even when we fail! Mankind just sees our failure and judges that we are not really trying, but God knows differently.
I believe that it was because of this very principle that the thief on the cross was saved, because God could see into his mind. We judge him harshly and most of us would NOT have allowed him into Heaven, but fortunately for the thief, and for us, God sees our thoughts and intentions. This is a comfort but also a warning.
Once again, we do not intend to ‘run’ your life for you. The choices are yours to make, but you need to know all of the facts to make a good decision. Do not just accept what has been written, read the scriptures for yourselves and see what God has said.
